6/27/2023 0 Comments Wildermyth classes![]() Mystics are very fun to use, but can feel limited due to available surroundings, which can dwindle due to scenery able to be targeted by enemies and players. ![]() For example, interfusing with a tree gains an ability called Splinterblast, which self-destructs the tree outwards damaging enemies and lowering their armour. Mystics use spells by combining with objects on the battlefield and sacrificing their health to use skills against enemies with an ability called interfuse. Warriors specialize in close-range combat and defensive capabilities, hunters specialize in long-ranged attacks and can learn abilities to pierce armour or poison enemies, and mystics are the mage class, making use of a unique magic system. Players have access to a basic but still enjoyable trio of classes: warrior, hunter, and mystic. Doing these character events is recommended for the benefits, but they are just another form of generic quest.Īh yes, the great restorative known across worlds: the root beer. These quests only give rewards to one of the characters, levelling them up as well as increasing their retirement age. Occasionally, while moving as a group, two characters will have an option to undergo a quest. Often these roles will reverse as a believer in one event can be a skeptic in the next. For example, an event where a party finds something supernatural, such as a transformation or a talking rabbit, will always have one party member act as a believer, while the other becomes the skeptic despite being in a magical world. An unfortunate side effect to these generic quests is that characters will act in a way that does not make sense. Most tiles on a chapter’s world map unlock generic story events that can be found in any playthrough instead of progressing the main narrative. This is because the stories are left purposely vague, due to any character being able to be killed off in battle, and some campaigns lasting for generations. Villain scenarios have stories that start off interesting but ultimately have a repetitive theme. Generic scenarios of three or five chapters with minimal story can be played as well. Scenarios play out quickly and chapters can be completed in an hour or two. After this introductory scenario is completed, four campaigns of five chapter lengths against the other story villains are unlocked. The first portion of the game is a three-chapter scenario with a villain that works as a tutorial. Wildermyth is a blast to play through, and the enemies’ development can make every campaign feel different. Despite this blight, it’s an otherwise fascinating game. These scenarios have their promising moments are let down by a feeling of sameness that makes the characters feel generic rather than personal. The game is simpler than it looks at first, with a progression system, that due to its randomness, provides plenty of variety. Wildermyth is a turn-based tactical RPG that uses procedural generation for each of its story scenarios. Worldwalker Games has a roguelite tactical RPG on its hands to be excited about.

6/27/2023 0 Comments Jesus redeemed fman![]() ![]() How Paul Elaborates on this Theme in Ephesians 2:13 Paul takes this theme of how humanity has been delivered from violence and death through the blood of Jesus and expands upon it in Ephesians 2. If some of this sounds similar to what Paul writes in Ephesians 2, that’s because it is. We can now live at peace, no longer subjecting ourselves to the ways of death and violence founded upon religion, but instead follow Jesus by faith into the ways of love and grace. Now that we have this redemptive revelation through the sacrificial death of Jesus, we are able to live in a new way with other human beings. He went to the cross and shed His blood for us, not as a payment to God or to Satan, but as a revelation to humanity about the sin which had enslaved humanity since the foundation of the world. Jesus redeemed us, bought us back, rescued us, released us from the never-ending cycle of sacred violence and sin by subjecting Himself to it. So when Paul writes about “the forgiveness of sins,” he is referring to our release from the cycle of sacred violence.Īnd since this phrase explains or defines the first phrase about the redemption through the blood of Jesus, it too can be understood similarly. I defend this idea in my book, Nothing but the Blood of Jesus. A good synonym for this type of forgiveness is “release.”įurthermore, the term “sin” in the Bible primarily refers to the sacred violence that has enslaved all of humanity in a never-ending cycle of rivalry, accusation, and scapegoating sacrifice. The type of forgiveness Paul mentions here is the conditional forgiveness ( aphēsis). The Forgiveness of SinsĪs we discussed previously, there are two main types of forgiveness sin the Bible, one that is free and one that is conditional. The two phrases explain each other, so let’s look at the forgiveness of sins first. We know that this is what Paul means because he explains the phrase “redemption through His blood” with the phrase “the forgiveness of sins.” We had enslaved ourselves to an endless cycle of sacred violence and the spilling of blood in God’s name.īy dying as He did, Jesus exposed the myth of redemptive violence and the lies of sacred violence for what they were so that we can be redeemed, bought back, or rescued from this endless cycle of violence and bloodshed once and for all. The redemption that Jesus accomplished through His blood was a rescue or deliverance of humanity from humanity. So what did Jesus redeem us from? What did He buy us back from? It is not as though there was a debt of sin to God or to Satan which could only be paid with the blood of Jesus. When Paul writes about Jesus redeeming us through His blood, however, we must not think that Jesus was paying off God or Satan with His blood. So redeemed us, or bought us back, through His blood. Redemption is when God takes something that is already His, and buys it so that it is twice His. It is in the context of these ideas that Paul mentions redemption through the blood of Jesus (Ephesians 1:7). So what is Paul teaching in Ephesians 1:7? The basic idea in Ephesians 1:3-14 is that God made us His heirs so that we can have the resources necessary to fulfill our purpose and role within His family. ![]() These words are also carefully defined in my Gospel Dictionary online course. Leading up to Ephesians 1:7 where Paul refers to redemption through the blood of Jesus, it is important to also understand what Paul means when he writes about adoption and election as these words also form a foundation for Paul’s ideas about the blood of Jesus. Paul introduces some of these themes with one long sentence in Ephesians 1:3-14. There is still a struggle, but it is not against each other, but against the forces which seek to drag us back into rivalry, accusation, and scapegoating violence. The basic message of Ephesians is that due to religion, humans have lived in rivalry and violence with each other since the foundation of the world, but now, in Jesus Christ, we have been shown a new way of living life so that all the hostilities can now cease. Some of my sermon manuscripts on Ephesians might help clarify the book as a whole, but most of the main ideas can also be found in various entries in my Gospel dictionary. Let me show you why.Įphesians is a book that has been widely misunderstood, especially in light of what it teaches about salvation. But does Ephesians 1:7 refute this idea? No. I have written previously that the blood of Jesus does not purchase forgiveness of sins for us from God. In Ephesians 1:7, Paul writes that “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” 6/27/2023 0 Comments Lipo battery meter![]() But when the resting voltage is that low on a LiFePO4 battery It's extremely low and has no real usable capacity left. With a Led-Acid battery a resting voltage of 12.55V would mean the battery still has a lot of capacity left. When I applied the load again I was below 11.4V in thirty seconds. If this had been a Led-Acid battery being just a little below fifty percent discharged the resting voltage would have been 12.2V. In the old days this would indicate the battery still had most of its capacity left. I removed the load and in a couple minutes the voltage recovered to 12.55V. At that point the voltage was dropping fast and the battery was discharged. I continued discharging down to 11.5V because most people using an inverter or lights will go that far. ![]() Because this was pushing that battery to its limit the voltage settled to 12.34V and stayed close to that voltage for most of the cycle. I used a 6.5 amp load and reached 12.0V in 45 minutes on the nose. Here's a test I did using the reBel 6AH LiFePO4 battery to prove this. unlike Led-Acid batteries when a LiFePO4 battery is fully discharged while the capacity doesn't recover to any real usable amount the resting voltage does recover enough to appear the battery still has some capacity left when a high current load is removed near the end of its cycle and will still recover some voltage when a light load is removed near the end of its cycle. So, why can't you just go by the resting voltage if you know a certain voltage is reached at a certain percentage of charge?īecause there isn't enough difference to get an accurate measurement. It's getting its measurement from knowing how many amp hours have been used and how many are left. The reBel batteries also show state of charge but it's not going by the voltage. By knowing how many amp hours are left you will know how charged your battery is. This is one of the areas the bluetooth feature reBel batteries have really shines because their bluetooth batteries have an amp hour meter. Knowing how many amp hours or watt hours are left is better than just seeing a percentage. So if you have a 100AH battery and the meter shows you have 70 amp hours left it's a no brainer, you know your battery is seventy percent charged. An amp hour meter measures the amount of amp hours used. The only accurate way is with an AH meter. So how can you know the state of charge of a LiFePO4 battery? ![]() They can be almost fully discharged and still have a resting voltage of close to 13V. Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries not only have a flat discharge curve, they also have great resting voltage recovery. But it also means we can no longer use the old school method of knowing the battery's state of charge. This is good because it means with a LiFePO4 battery you get to use almost all of the capacity you pay for above 12V. Back in the "old days" with Lead-Acid batteries, it was pretty easy to calculate the state of charge by the resting voltage.īut, because of the flat discharge curve of LiFePO4 batteries you can't go by the resting voltage to get the state of charge other than knowing if the voltage is 13.3V or higher the battery is full or close to it and if the voltage is 12.5V the battery is fully discharged or real close to it, which I will demonstrate in a minute. 6/27/2023 0 Comments Fun bridge bridge![]() The key finesse is always off, trumps don't break, etc. The app is ruined because deals are not random. And thus turning himself into, ostensibly, one of the world's first human applause signs. At the close of the performance, the chief actor would yell, "Valete et plaudite!" ("Goodbye and applause!") - thus signaling to the audience, in the subtle manner preferred by centuries of thespians, that it was time to give praise. "Plaudits" (the word comes from the Latin "to strike," and also "to explode") were the common way of ending a play. ("And they proclaimed him king and anointed him, and they clapped their hands and said, 'Long live the king!'")īut clapping was formalized - in Western culture, at least - in the theater. The Bible makes many mentions of applause - as acclamation, and as celebration. What they do know is that clapping is very old, and very common, and very tenacious - " a remarkably stable facet of human culture." Babies do it, seemingly instinctually. Scholars aren't quite sure about the origins of applause. It was the qualified self giving way to the quantified crowd. It was public sentiment analysis, revealing the affinities and desires of networked people. Applause, participatory and observational at the same time, was an early form of mass media, connecting people to each other and to their leaders, instantly and visually and, of course, audibly. This is the story of how people clapped when all they had, for the most part, was hands - of how we liked things before we Liked things. We clap because we're generous and selfish and compliant and excitable and human. We clap because something is totally awesome. Our methods are serendipitous and also driven, always, by the subtle dynamics of the crowd. We find new ways to express our enthusiasms, to communicate our desires, to encode our emotions for transmission. We friend and follow and plus-1 and plus-K and recommend and endorse and mention and (sometimes even, still) blogroll, understanding that bigger audiences - networked audiences - can be their own kind of thunderous reward. We retweet and reblog the good stuff to amplify the noise it makes. We clap for each others' updates on Facebook. We find ways, in short, to represent ourselves as crowds - through the very medium of our crowd-iness.īut we're reinventing applause, too, for a world where there are, technically, no hands. ![]() We applaud, in the best of circumstances, enthusiastically. ("When we applaud a performer," argues the sociobiologist Desmond Morris, "we are, in effect, patting him on the back from a distance.") We applaud dutifully. In the studio, in the theater, in places where people become publics, we still smack our palms together to show our appreciation - to create, in cavernous spaces, connection. It was a way for frail little humans to recreate, through hands made "thunderous," the rumbles and smashes of nature.Īpplause, today, is much the same. Applause, in the ancient world, was acclamation. But it made a fitting postscript to that empire's long relationship with one of the earliest and most universal systems people have used to interact with each other: the clapping of hands. ![]() Heraclius's tactic of intimidation-by-noisemaking, the audible version of a Potemkin Village, did nothing to stanch the wounds of a bleeding empire. So the emperor hired a group of men to augment his legions - but for purposes that were less military than they were musical. But he knew that the Roman army, in its weakened state, was no longer terribly intimidating, particularly when the intended intimidatee was a barbarian. Heraclius wanted to intimidate his opponent. In the seventh century, as the Roman empire was in the decline period of its decline and fall, the emperor Heraclius made plans to meet with a barbarian king. And then, suddenly, just when the colors and outlines settle at last to their various duties - smiling, frivolous duties - some knob is touched and a torrent of sounds comes to life: voices speaking all together, a walnut cracked, the click of a nutcracker carelessly passed, thirty human hearts drowning mine with their regular beats the sough and sigh of a thousand trees, the local concord of loud summer birds, and, beyond the river, behind the rhythmic trees, the confused and enthusiastic hullabaloo of bathing young villagers, like a background of wild applause. |
